How is it calculated?
Enter your weight, your daily exercise time and your climate (normal, or hot/humid). The tool starts from a commonly recommended amount per kilogram, then adds extra for exercise and hot weather.
Formula
Base need = Weight × 33 mL Exercise addition = (Minutes ÷ 30) × 400 mL Hot climate addition = 500 mL
Example
Weight: 70 · Daily exercise: 30 · Climate: Normal → Your daily water need: 2.71 L

Frequently asked questions
Is this the same for everyone?
No, this is a general estimate and varies by person. If you have a kidney or heart condition, talk to your doctor about how much to drink.
Do tea, coffee and other drinks count?
This estimate is for plain water. Caffeinated drinks are mildly diuretic so they don't count quite the same, but they still contribute to your daily fluid intake.
Where does the 33 mL/kg figure come from?
It's the middle of the 30–35 mL/kg range commonly recommended by health sources. Hot weather and exercise call for extra on top of it.
